How to apply for HEAP
Applications go through different offices depending on where you live — pick your area below.
How HEAP cooling assistance works
You apply with your county
Cooling assistance applications go through your local district — HRA in NYC, or the Department of Social Services in Nassau and Suffolk. Benefits typically open in late spring and run while funding lasts.
You're approved for a unit
Eligibility is generally based on income guidelines and a household member with a documented medical condition made worse by heat. Your district confirms the benefit and the approved amount.
We supply + install it
As a participating vendor, we deliver a program-eligible air conditioner, install it to code (bracket included where required), and bill the program directly. You don't pay out of pocket for the covered benefit.
Who may qualify
- ✓Your household meets the current HEAP income guidelines.
- ✓Someone in the home has a medical condition that’s aggravated by heat, documented by a medical provider.
- ✓You don’t already have a working air conditioner (or the one you have is 5+ years old, in many districts).
- ✓You live in New York State — we service the five boroughs, Nassau, Suffolk, and lower Westchester up to White Plains.

If you’ve been approved for a HEAP cooling benefit — or you’re a case worker or agency coordinating installs — call us and we’ll take it from there. We handle the paperwork with the district, schedule the install, and haul away the old unit.
